"Stubborn" is the word Barbara's parents used most often to describe their daughter as she was growing up in West Virginia...

She approached life with a "won't give up" attitude and succeeded in working her way through college, graduating to become an elementary school teacher. After marriage, Barbara taught for several years and then dedicated herself to raising two children. The Stanton family moved to Mobile in 1972 and have made it their home. The household has always been open to caring for others. Foster children, exchange students, and various young people in need were included in the family at times. Later, after returning for a few years to the classroom, Barbara shifted focus for a career change into real estate. Since the beginning of her new career, the determination and dedication that have been sustaining strengths throughout her life, have again brought her success. During her first year in real estate, she was selected by her peers as the "Rookie of the Year" and since that time has always been one of the top agents at Roberts Brothers, Inc.
